The Western Provinces have legitimate beefs. Smith is not a separatist. Her 9 point plan is well-thought out. Saskatchewan wants the same as Alberta. The Western Accord will be a real positive for the whole country.

I think Carney will leverage his fresh mandate to restore trust and unity between Ottawa and the provinces, particularly Alberta and Saskatchewan. But I hope his balancing act will involve promoting green energy while recognizing the economic role of the oil and gas industry. It won’t please the climate change deniers nor the environmental zealots but for the majority it’ll be in the best interests for Canada.

EV cars make about 500 km per charge in the summer but only about 175 km in winter out here. They can only be used for shuttling in a city. Nobody would want people perishing out on highways during severe storms at -35. Lithium has many envirinmental problems. Hydrogen offers a better solution but it will take longer. Trudeau put in a deadline of 2035 for EVs. Michigan's deadline is 2040. Both may have to wait longer.

So stop innovation, R&D and put all our eggs in the fossil fuel basket and hope some other country comes up with the green alternative?

We always must be praxtical and value life. Industry insiders are pointing to hydrogen.
