Hi, I would like to know your opinion on the upcoming elections? Who do you think is going to win? Would you rather see Canada keep a good relation with the US or do you think Canada should work together more with Europe?
With vote splitting it’s very hard to say who’s going to win, Canada hasn’t had a majority gov’t for years and we need one more that ever to prove to Donald Trump that we’re unified and not interested in his notion of becoming the 51st state. I’m watching the polls and the two major parties are too close to see this reality through. Hopefully the gap widens substantially. I don’t see prospects improving under Trump between Canada and the U.S. Trust is all but destroyed and Canada definitely needs to seek deeper partnerships in trade and defence with not just Europe, but the UK, as well. The commonwealth bonds could use some strengthening. All this said it needs to be considered that we are neighbours of the U.S. and we have to get along and there are many sensible people in the U.S. who we can still get along with.
